Long-Term Ethylene Oxide Exposure Trends in US Hospitals: Relationship with OSHA Regulatory and Enforcement Actions

Anthony D. LaMontagne, J. Michael Oakes and Ruth N. Lopez Turley; Am J Public Health. 2004 September; 94(9): 1614–1619.

Summary: Using commercial ETO badge analysis records for hospital exposure, LaMontagne et al found that 8 hour time weighted average workplace exposures between 1984 and 2001 decreased after the OSHA 1910.1047 EtO standard came into force in 1984 and has remained low, but the probability of short term exposures has increased since 1996, correlating with a decrease in OSHA enforcement.
